Abhishek (Abhi) Sinha, MD, FACC, FSCAI
Dr. Sinha is one of the most highly trained interventional cardiologists in the San Fernando Valley with advanced training in structural heart interventions, endovascular interventions, and advanced heart failure. After graduating from Stanford University with honors with a BS (Bachelor of Science) in the Biological Sciences, Dr. Sinha received his medical degree (MD) from Yale School of Medicine. During medical school, he spent a year at the prestigious Howard Hughes Research Scholars Program, and his research in cancer immunotherapy resulted in a patent and was awarded “Best Thesis in Cancer Research” in the state of Connecticut by the American Cancer Society. After medical school, Dr. Sinha did his internal medicine residency there, followed by an Advanced Heart Failure/ Heart Transplant Fellowship at Yale. He then did a cardiology fellowship at the University of Washington, followed by a rigorous interventional cardiology fellowship (2 years) that focused on complex coronary and structural heart interventions.
After a few years of clinical practice in Orange County, Dr. Sinha pursued advanced training in endovascular and structural heart training through the VIVA Advanced Endovascular and Structural Heart Fellowship (El Camino Hospital and Fogarty Institute of Innovation, CA and Wellmont Medical Center, TN). Under the mentorship of Dr. Jim Joye and Dr. Chris Metzger, Dr.Sinha became trained in complex endovascular interventions while further advancing his skills in structural heart interventions (TAVRs, MitraClips). He also presented original research at a national conference (CRT) on carotid stenting and published an important review in the treatment of acute coronary syndrome (Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2017).
Since joining CCMG Cardiology in 2016, Dr. Sinha has demonstrated that he is a thoughtful and caring physician and a highly skilled operator with a proven track record of excellence. Dr. Sinha has developed a robust structural heart intervention program for CCMG, which includes TAVRs (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement), MitraClips, the Watchman procedure and PFO closures. He is one of the first interventional cardiologists in the San Fernando Valley to begin performing TAVRs as primary operator, and he is one of the most experienced, having done over 175 TAVRs as primary operator since 2017 with excellent results (as of 8/2021). Dr. Sinha is the Structural Heart Director at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and he has created a PFO closure program for secondary stroke prevention in 2019 and now a TAVR program in 2021. He is board certified in cardiology, interventional cardiology and endovascular interventions. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and Fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI).
